Overview
When you upload an existing lease document, Lease24 uses AI to automatically extract key information from the PDF. This saves you from manually re-entering data that already exists in the document.
How It Works
- Navigate to Leases > Add Lease
- Choose Upload Existing
- Drag and drop your lease PDF or click to browse
- The AI analyzes the document and extracts data automatically
What Gets Extracted
The AI reads your lease document and pulls out:
Tenant Information
- Primary tenant name, email, phone, and date of birth
- Co-tenants with names, contact info, and relationship types
- Emergency contact details for each tenant
- Current address of the tenant
Property Details
- Full address broken down into street, unit number, city, province, and postal code
- Property type, number of bedrooms and bathrooms
- Square footage and furnished status
- Parking spaces and storage availability
Lease Terms
- Start and end dates
- Monthly rent amount
- Rent due day
- Security deposit and key deposit amounts
- Late fee amounts
Additional Terms
- Pet policy (allowed or not, pet deposit)
- Smoking policy
- Occupancy limits
- Utilities included (electricity, heat, water)
- Parking and storage fees
Confidence Levels
Each extraction includes a confidence score:
- High - AI is very confident in the extracted values
- Medium - Likely correct but should be verified
- Low - Values may need manual correction
Fields with low confidence are highlighted so you can review and correct them before saving.
Reviewing Extracted Data
After extraction, the form auto-populates with the detected values. You can:
- Edit any field directly in the form
- Add missing information that the AI could not detect
- Correct errors where the AI misread values
- Add or remove co-tenants as needed
All fields remain editable regardless of confidence level.
Property Matching
The AI attempts to match the extracted address to your existing properties:
- If a match is found, the property and unit are auto-selected
- If no match exists, you can create a new property directly from the form
- Address components are geocoded for map placement
Tenant Creation
For tenants not yet in your system:
- The AI creates pending tenant records from extracted data
- Tenants are invited to create their portal account via email
- Once they sign up, they are automatically linked to the lease
Supported File Formats
- PDF documents (including scanned PDFs with OCR)
- Maximum file size depends on your storage plan limits
AI Credits
Lease extraction uses AI credits from your plan. The credits page shows your usage. If you run out of credits, a prompt appears to upgrade your plan.
Tips for Best Results
- Upload clear, legible PDF documents
- Standard lease forms (like Ontario Standard Lease) yield the highest accuracy
- Handwritten leases may have lower extraction accuracy
- Multi-page documents are fully supported
