Overview
The Leases section provides a central view of all lease agreements across your properties. Access it from the sidebar under Leases.
Lease List
Your leases are displayed with key information at a glance:
- Property and Unit name
- Tenant name(s)
- Lease term (start and end dates)
- Monthly rent amount
- Status badge (Draft, Active, Expired, Terminated, Ended)
- Signature status for e-sign workflows
Lease Statuses
- Draft - Created but not yet active. Can be edited freely.
- Active - Current, in-effect lease with an active tenancy.
- Expired - Past the end date but not formally terminated.
- Terminated - Ended early by either party.
- Ended - Completed its full term.
Lease Detail Page
Click any lease to view its full details:
- Summary - All key terms at a glance
- Documents - Uploaded or generated lease files
- Tenants - Primary tenant and co-tenants with contact info
- Payment History - Linked invoices and payment records
- Timeline - Key events (created, signed, activated, etc.)
Editing a Lease
Draft leases can be fully edited. Active leases allow limited edits to preserve the legal record. To make significant changes to an active lease, create an amendment or a new lease.
Lease Renewal
When a lease approaches its end date:
- A reminder appears in your dashboard
- You can create a renewal lease pre-filled with existing terms
- Update the rent amount or terms as needed
- Send the renewal for e-signature
Terminating a Lease
To end a lease early:
- Open the lease detail page
- Click Terminate Lease
- Select the termination date and reason
- The lease status changes to Terminated
- Ontario users can generate the appropriate N-form notice if required
Filtering and Search
Use filters to find specific leases:
- Status - Filter by Draft, Active, Expired, etc.
- Property - Show leases for a specific property
- Search - Find by tenant name or lease details
