Managing Units Within a Property
Units are the individual rental spaces inside a property. You can manage them from the "Units and Tenants" tab on the Property Detail page or from the Units tab when editing a property.
Adding a New Unit
Click the "Add Unit" button to open the unit creation form. You will need to fill in:
- Unit Code - A short identifier like "101", "2A", or "Basement". This is how the unit will be labeled throughout the app.
- Bedrooms - The number of bedrooms.
- Bathrooms - The number of bathrooms.
- Square Feet - The size of the unit (optional but recommended).
- Monthly Rent - The rent amount in Canadian dollars.
- Deposit - The security deposit amount (optional).
- Status - The current status of the unit.
- Amenities - Toggle switches for features like parking and pet friendliness.
Once you fill in the details, click Save to create the unit. It will appear immediately in the units list.
Unit Status Types
Each unit has a status that tells you its current state:
- Vacant - The unit is empty and available for a new tenant.
- Occupied - A tenant is currently living in the unit with an active lease.
- Notice - The current tenant has given notice and will be leaving soon.
- Maintenance - The unit is temporarily unavailable due to repairs or renovations.
You can change a unit's status at any time by editing the unit.
Editing a Unit
Click the edit button (pencil icon) on any unit card to open the edit dialog. You can update any of the fields you set during creation. Changes are saved immediately.
Deleting a Unit
Click the delete button (trash icon) on a unit card to remove it. A confirmation dialog will appear to make sure you want to proceed. Keep in mind that deleting a unit is permanent and will also affect any associated data.
Mobile Experience
On mobile devices, unit cards support swipe actions. Swipe left on a unit card to reveal quick action buttons for editing and deleting. This makes it fast to manage units on the go without needing to open each one individually.
Navigating to Unit Details
Click on any unit card to open the full Unit Detail page. From there, you can see tenant information, payment history, maintenance requests, and documents related to that specific unit.
